The riviera with its islands belongs to the most beautiful countrysides of the Adriatic Sea. In the close vicinity to Drašnice there are the most famous islands of Croatia, like Hvar, Brač and Korčula and the peninsula Pelješac.

The vivacious Makarska (ca. 12.000 inhabitants) which is the centre of the riviera of the same name belongs to the oldest touristly developped districts of the middle of Dalmatia and is attended since the 19th century from visitors all over the world. Since the opening of the Biokovo-Nationalpark a lot of visitors are scientists and interested laymen who have a great interest in the worldwide unique Karst-Geology, Flora and Fauna.
You can go for an excursion to Makarska just to go shopping, to buy fresh fish at the port or in the afternoon you can eat an ice-cream in one of the café-bars at the palm-trees promenade, called "Marinetta", you can drink a cappuccino or just eat a Pizza. Numerous discotheques and bars are popular meeting places for nighthawks.
Exciting daily trips are possible without problems to historical places, e.g. into the old part of Split (distance ca. 70 km), with antique Salona or to the peninsula Pelješac - the medieval town Ston possesses the second-longest military wall of the
world with the fortification Koruna, beside the Chinese Wall.
You walk on the traces of the Roman if one enjoys a Cappuccino in one the cafés of Split or goes shopping,
because that change formerly 30.000 qm large palace, respectivly
the residence of emperor Diokletian takes nearly the half old part of Split. Salona, the capital of the Roman province Dalmatia
with remainders of forum, temples, bath houses and theatres is situated above Split.
Beside Dubrovnik (ca. 120 km) also the romantic city Korčula - on the island of the same name - belongs to the usually visited places of Croatia. Here the Venezian Marco Polo might was born, whose house likewise stands for a sightseeing.
Regular ferry boat traffics from Split, Makarska, Drvenik, Ploče, Orebić or Korčula make it possible to jump from island to island by car or motorcycle (Hvar, Brač and Korčula, peninsula Pelješac). In one of the other small dreamily places you can take a rest, in order to enjoy e.g. a glass of dry white wine fresh shells or other tasty fish dishes.
